For Restoration.
A somewhat neglected 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Troopers Sword.
No visible markings/makers marks that I can see, although something may be lunking under the rust and grime.
The service sharpened blade has been converted from a hatchet point to a spear, now measuring almost 32 inches.
The scabbard is intact, pitted but not holed as far as I can see. Complete with both hanging rings.
This recently uncovered example will require either a full restoration, or conservation, and certainly a thorough clean, and possibly a replacement grip, due to the woodworm attacking the original, although if it could be stabalised and filled it may be salvagable.
It requires a good amount of work but given what some very mediocre examples are currently fetching, it would be well worth investing the time and effort in.
Study the pictures carefully, sold as seen.
