SOLD

A very good George V, 1854 pattern Coldstream Guards Officers Sword.

This example dating to WW1. Etched at the ricasso for the retailer E. Smith, 5 Boyle Street, Saville Row. Edward Smith was well known for supplying uniform and accoutrements to the Guards Regiments, and took up his residence in Boyle Street in 1917.

The gothic 1854 pattern Guards hilt, bearing the regimental badge of the Coldstream Guards. Shagreen grip is complete, and is in very good order, and retains its original silver twistwire binding is.

The highly decorated 32.75 inch blade is fully etched with the regimental battle honours, the crowned GVR cypher, and the Garter Star of the Coldstream Guards regimental badge. It also carries one cartouche bearing the original owners initials, "N.R." (These are very likely for Lieutenant Neville Randall.) which opens an avenue for research. The blade is generally bright, the etching clear, and largely retains its polish, with some minor staining, and areas of old pitting towards the blades point.

Housed in its brown leather field service scabbard, which is in good condition, missing its retaining strap.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched. Please send this at the time of ordering, to prevent unnecessary delay in your order being dispatched.
