A very good example of the 1899 Cavalry Troopers Sword in the very scarce leather covered experimental scabbard, regimentally marked to the 19th Hussars.

33 inch single fullered blade, spine marked with the '99 pattern designation, with a plethora of inspection markings to both ricasso's. Showing signs of professional service sharpening along the main edge and the first six inches of the back edge. Several edge nicks along the length of the blade, with some light staining, but generally clean.

The chequered slab leather grips in good condition, and correctly secured with three rivets. Some discolouration and light pitting to the interior and exterior of the bowl guard. Single unit marking of "19 H" above "27".

Housed in the very scarce brown leather covered steel scabbard, introudced during the Boer War to cut down on light reflection. Correctly marked with the pattern designation, and "01" for 1901.

All in all a very scarce combination of a sword marked to a unit who had a tough time during the Boer War, which wasn't issued to the Yeomanry like so many others, and the scarce experimental scabbard. All untouched and as found.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
