A very pleasing 1908 Pattern Cavalry Troopers Sword.

The bulbous bowl guard in good, unbuckled condition, and containing various markings to the interior, which indicate it was originally the property of the (1st) Royal Dragoons. It carried the WSC and broad arrow markings for the Wilkinson Sword Company. The ergonomic pistol grip with distinctive thumb rest is in excellent condition.

The regulation 35 inch single fullered blade, which is dated May 1915 at the ricasso, along with makers marking of Enfield (EFD) beneath a broad arrow, along with various other inspection markings to both ricasso's, and the pattern number "P'08" to the spine. The blade shows signs of service sharpening, and some shallow edge nicks.

The regulation steel scabbard with twin hanging rings also carries profuse markings, indicating it was manufctured by the Wilkinson Sword Company, and is dated 1914.

It would appear this sword was created from all the good spare parts left over at the end of WW1, and then at some point it was refurbished for parade use, given its bright appearance. This was quite a common practice, and lots of WW1 period swords remain in "dress" service even today. A very good composite example of this iconic final british Cavalry Troopers Sword.
