A Scarce George V Royal Company of Archers Officers Broadsword.

This fine quality Ceremonial Sword of the Royal Company Of Archers, which has served as the Sovereign's Bodyguard in Scotland,since 1822.

The double fullered broadsword blade by "Stewart 88 George Street Edinburgh" and etched with scrolls and intertwined thistles. This measures 30.5 inches, which denotes it as an officers sword, rather than the standard archers short sword.

The hilt of brass embossed with scrolls, the tang button in the form of a thistle, with crossguard, further etched with scrolls, and ball finials.

Housed in itscorrect black leather scabbard with gilded brass mounts engraved with celtic strap work, twin suspension rings, and ball finial to the drag.

Overall in very good condition. Minor staining and dark areas to the blade. 

This particular pattern is seldom seen on the open market.
