A particularly good example of an 1885 Cavalry Troopers Sword. Whilst not an overly difficult sword to find, very good examples, such as this, seldom appear on the market, due to the long service life of these swords, usually going to frontline units, then secondary units, before ending up with the Yeomanry.
This example produced by Weyersburg, Kirchbaum of Solingen under contract to the War Office. It is dated 1887 on the blade, with further resissue and inspection markings to blade and scabbard.
It was originally issued to "A" Depot, Royal Horse Artillery, likely seeing active service during the Boer War, before passing to the Gloucester Hussars (Yeomanry).
Housed in the correct "Mole's Patent" steel scabbard with twin hanging rings. Corresponding Gloucestershire Hussars Yeomanry Markings to Hilt and scabbard, so an original pairing.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched. Please send this at the time of ordering, to prevent unnecessary delay in your order being dispatched.
