British Cavalry 1911 Pattern Gymnasia Sword.

This is the MK1, and final pattern of gymnasia sword produced, for teaching and training in the use of the 1908 pattern Cavalry Troopers sword, which it closely resembles.

This example is produced by Wilkinson sword, and is marked to them at the ricasso, along with the pattern year "11" (1911) Broan Arrow, Government Acceptance marks, and dated ‘9'. ‘15’, for September 1915.

The Mk.I Gymnasia Sword is hilted with a 1908 style bowl guard, chequered aluminium grip. The pommel and grip have screws, to allow the blade to be replaced in event of serious damage/breakage.

Overall good condition, the blade culminating in a globular "button". Clear markings with signs of old contact marks from use. Scattered staining and light rust. It would benefit from a gentle clean. Blade Length: 34.5 inches.

A very scarce survival, and a good WW1 dated example.

Shown in a couple of images together with a standard 1908 trropers sword, for scale.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched. Please send this at the time of ordering, to prevent unnecessary delay in your order being dispatched.
