Edward VII NCO's Sword

Edward VII NCO's Sword

Code: 11839

The plated guard carrying the Royal Cypher of Edward VII and unit marked to the "RAOC "Royal Army Ordnance Corps" 9(th) Sec(tion) (Sword No) 2". Domed pommel with smooth backstrap and chequered thumb piece. Shagreen covered grip bound with silver coloured twistwire in good condition.

The single fullered 32.5 inch blade by Mole of Birmingham. Broad arrow and bend test markings to the ricasso. To the other side are further inspection markings and a date of 1903. The steel blade generally bright with small areas of dark staining and light pitting.

Housed in a later ordnance issue Sam Browne leather field service scabbard with Scottish ball finial. This produced by Wilkinson Sword and dated (19)84. It has a small stitched repair to the leather near the throat.

I bought this from the gentleman who was presented with it in 1999 when he left the Army, so it had a very long service career!
