Elizabeth II RASC Officers Sword

Elizabeth II RASC Officers Sword

Code: 11000

SOLD

A scarce example of an Elizabeth II Royal Army Service Corps regimental pattern Sword, by Wilkinson.

The serial number on this example dates it to circa 1963.

Three bar hilt of 1821 pattern, chequered pommel and back strap. The grip of shagreen bound in original twistwire, all complete and in excellent condition.

The 34.5 inch blade of polished steel, rather than the later, ugly plated examples. The bright and crisp etching showing the Wilkinson Sword details at the ricasso, crowned ERII monarchs cypher, the RASC regimental badge, and the usual foliate engravings.

The sword blade in original polish, with three areas of pitting, one to the spine, one towards the point, and both sides of the point itself. Not being a plated blade, these would greatly improve if professionally polished.

Housed in its original brown leather field service scabbard, complete with sword hanger, and original sword knot, all in excellent condition.

Overall an excellent example of a hard to find sword for modern collectors, and a sword which would be suitable for a serving officer with some light polishing and cleaning. The modern equivalent of inferior quality would set you back in excess of £1000.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
