A good 1889 Pattern Steel Hilted Staff Sergeant's Sword.

This is quite a rare sword, especially with the scarce steel hilt of the Rifle regiments., This Victorian Staff Sergeant's sword was produced by Mole of Birmingham, carrying both thier stamped and etched markings to the blade. This is the correct pattern for the Boer War.

Which have been crossed through. The scabbard also has a WD and broad arrow marking to its spine with a date of '91 (1891).

Both ricasso's also carry various dates and inspection markings.

Housed in its correct and distinctive steel scabbard with twin fixed suspension rings.

A completely untouched sword, it has some areas of loss to the shagreen grip, old dirt, rust, staining, and light pitting to blade and scabbard. The blade shows signs of service sharpening and has some edge nicks. It could be greatly improved with some light cleaning and general TLC.
