A very pleasing Edwardian Silver Mounted Officers Dirk.

This example carrying hallmarks for Edinburgh 1906. The makers marking partially obscured, but likely that of Young & Tatton, in business 1898-1908.

Well carved bog oak grip decorated with  a celtic basket weave pattern. The heavy silver pommel in a cross design, this replicated on the knife and fork.

The attractive, plain blade, with a length of 11 inches (including under the silver collar) has a scallopped spine, with a long double spine fuller. It still holds a good edge, and culminates in a needle point.

The scabbard is of leather covered wood with matching tarnished silver shield shaped mounts. Twin suspension loops to the rear.

The scabbard houses a knife and fork, both silver mounted and decorated as the dirk itself. The knife also has a scalloped spine, the fork with twin tines.

Condition is generally very good, with some minor staining to all three blades.

An attractive, original example of this iconic Scottish knife.

Overall length in scabbard 17.5 inches.
