A good, untouched typical WW1 production 1897 Pattern infantry officers sword regimentally etched to the Royal Engineers.

Regulation 1897 pattern hilt with crowned GVR cypher. Chequered backpiece, shagreen grip free from loss , light service wear, and bound with copper twistwire, although some strands are now missing.

The single fullered 32.5 inch blade with makers details to one ricasso: "Fenton Brothers Ltd, Cutlers, Sheffield. Established 1850." Underneath this is "Sword Cutlers to the War Office".

The well etched blade with the Regimental Badge of the Royal Engineers, along with vacant panels, standard floral engraving, royal coat of arms. Some minor old staining, and would benefit from a clean.

Housed in its brown leather field service scabbard. Good solid condtion, minor scuffs, and "folding" to the drag.

A lovely untouched example, which will respond very well to some gentle TLC.
