A good example of a WW1 period Turkish Infantry officers sword.
The hilt consisting of brass guard and backstrap, with sword knot loop to the pommel. The horn grip bound with brass twist wire, some now loose and missing. The grip also with some minor loss, but generally good.
The 29.75 inch, single fullered blade is lavishly etched in the German style, with makers marking "Achgdelo Freres" to the spine.
Some movement between hilt and blade. The blade is generally bright and in good condtion.
It has the large bonus of retaining its original scabbard, which are almost always absent. It has a disctinctive brass throat, scabbard band, hanging ring and drag. The body is bright, but well battered, with dings, dents and quite bent, but totally original, and still a good fit.
Not an easy sword to find, this example was bought along with several other Turkish weapons brought back by the same soldier.
