Grenadier Guards Officers Sword

Code: 10734

SOLD

A good untouched Great War period Grenadier Guards Officers Sword

The blade etched with crowned GVR cypher, the Flaming Grenade of the Grenadier Guards, and battle honours to either side, ending with South Africa 1902.

Also the original owners initials "H.D.F.F."

The sword of Henry Douglas Forbes Fraser, who served firstly with the Royal Flying Corps, and then with the Grenadier Guards and the Grenadier Guards Machine Gun Regiment. Plenty of further research to be done, his service records are available from the National Archives.

This blade was retailed by "E.Smith, 5 Boyle St, Saville Row.

Serial number to the blades spine.

Good "as found" condition, in need of a gentle clean to the exterior, loss of plating to scabbard and guard. Shagreen grip covering intact, minus the wire. Particularly good blade, with some light staining towards the tip.

A good researchable sword, to a sought after unit.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
