Welsh Guards Officer's Sword

Welsh Guards Officer's Sword

Code: 11310

SOLD

A good example of a George V Welsh Guards Officers Sword.

The Welsh Guards were formed in February 1915, the last of the five Guards regiments to come into being. They consisted of one regular, and one reserve battalion. Consequently examples of their sword is are one of the hardest to find.

1854 pattern Guards hilt, bearing the regimental leek badge of the Welsh Guards. Shagreen grip is complete, but the wire is absent.

This example has a 32 inch blade which carries vacant battle honours, the crowned GV cypher, and the regimental badge. It also carries the original owners initials, "P. D. D." which opens an avenue for research.

The whole sword is quite worn and neglected, but it is a rare example, and will improve if desired.

Housed in a brown field service scabbard, in very good condition.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
