Four inch socket marked "4 N.I" presumably for 4th Native Infantry.
The blade now measuring just under 15 inches from tip to shoulder. The whole bayonet appears to be coated in some type of varnish.
This type of bayonet is recorded as being trialled as early as 1771.
Housed in a brass mounted leather scabbard, which fits very well. Minor losses, but solid.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
