A good fresh to the market example of the German 1898/05 sawback "Butcher" Bayonet.
This example produced by "Anker-Werke Bielefeld", one of the harder manufacturers to find, particuarly of saw back examples. Carter rates them as "Scarce" and notes they only produced examples in 1917, with no other markings. Therefore despite this example lacking a date on the spine, it would be safe to assume that this example was produced in that year.
Light sharpening marks to the blade, but otherwise a very clean, untouched bayonet.
Housed in its original scabbard, which is in good condition. It has around a 50% rpainted finish, although I am not sure if this is original, more likely a later addition. It is free from major dings or dents, and has an inspection marking at the finial.
