A good, untouched Lee Metford Bayonet By Mole.
This example is dated 1896, and bears the correct crowned VR cypher at the ricasso, along with various other WD stamps and markings. The blade carries its original bright polished finish, along with some corrosion/staining.
Further clear inspection markings to both wooden grip scales, which are in good condition. The pommel bears the number 406, and this matches the scabbard throat. The scabbard mounts and pommel have old corrosion, which should improve with some careful cleaning. Pommel catch seized. The body of the scabbard solid, and would benefit from a feed/polish.
