A Scarce Indian manufactured Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife.

The hand ground blade now measuring just under 6.25 inches in length. The blade shows signs of repeated service sharpening, old staining and light pitting and rust. The blade tip is now modified to a chisel/spatulated point.

The cross guard has a similar patina to the blade, with  no visible markings, althought the crossguard is quite grubby.

The knurled brass grip lacks the texture of its British made counterparts, retaining small amounts of its original blackened finish in the sheltered areas. It has the traditional Coke bottle pommel, but no pommel nut on this vairation, instead being filled with lead solder.

Housed in the lower potion of its brass mounted leather sheath. Fairly solid condition, with the beginings of a cut at the throat where the sharpened blade has been drawn.

A small amount of movement at the crossguard.

A good used, carried example of this rare pattern issued to Indian Special Forces, and Chindit units. These knives were made in limited numbers, and saw prolonged service use, and are consequently very hard to find in any condition.
