A scarce late 19th, early 20th century Bowie Knife, made/retailed by Robinson&Co of Singapore.
Robinson and Co were founded in 1858 and owned department stores in Singapore and Malaysia, selling everything from the latest fashions, to firearms.
This smart bowie knife has a blade just shy of 9 inches. It has been professionally honed and has a razor sharp edge and a lethal point. The crossguard is made of nickel silver, and the full width tang mounted with slab staghorn grips. It is extremely well balanced and comfortable in the hand, and would have been an expensive knife, in its day.
It is housed in its original black leather sheath of typical form, complete with belt loop.
All in all a great quality bowie knife with some interesting colonial provenance.
