A really hefty fighting knife, produced from a French Artillery Gladius Short Sword, Model of 1831. In its original configuration, it was affectionally known to the troops the the "Cabbage Chopper".
This is the only such conversion of this type I have ever seen, but it is suprisingly effective, and I rather like it.
Marked to one ricassso "Paris 1832" and with makers details to the other.
The shortened pommel has been covered with a French? tunic button, which is now dented.
Blade length just over 9 inches. 13.5 inches overall.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
