£595.00 Approx $788.08, €700

A fine silver Kothimora Kukri with a dia chirra blade.

This example likely dating from the late 19th, to early 20th century.

This high quality kukri, was very likely a presentation piece. The silver mounted grip, featuring an unusual integral bolster, is chased with geometric decoration, and has a sun keeper to the pommel cap, with decorated central grip ring. The impressive blade with destinctive kaudi, unusual spine decoration, and the desirable twin shallow fullers of dia chirra (twin valley) type.

Handle length 4.5 inches. Blade length 14 inches. Overall length 18.5 inches. (Measurement taken in a straight line)

The blade is mainly bright, with signs of sharpening, light rust, grease and old staining. The silver grip  grip in good condition, with minor bumps, mainly to the pommel "ears".

Housed in its original kothimora scabbard with silver mounts, decorated with floral repousse work. The top mount which would have originally had a ring to hold the sangli chain is now absent. The bottom mount decorated with similarly. The rear khissa pouch is present, but is torn in places and in need of attention. The original covering, is largely faded to the front, and threadbare in places. It has old stitched repairs to the rear, but it is possible to see the vibrancy of the original colour in more sheltered areas.

An impressive old example, exhibiting some unusual features, worthy of some care and conservation.
