Early Military Issue Kukri

Early Military Issue Kukri

Code: 11136

SOLD

A good early military kukri, dating from circa 1900/WW1. This example with a four digit soldiers number to tbe blade.

Hardwood grip, which has single central grip ring with further twin line bands. Rats tail tang secured with a peened washer to the pommel, indicative of early 20thC military kukri.

The blade with single spine fuller in generally good condition, with signs of old corrosion, light pitting, heavy sharpening and old dirt and grime to the blade. Could be vastly improved with some gentle TLC, Once tidied up it should present very well.

The black leather scabbard of military pattern, now sadly in near relic condition. Still retaining its steel chape, it could be used as a pattern upon which to recreate the scabbard, or it may be possible to repair and recover.

The grip and blade are firm. No visible damage to the wooden grip, which is unusual given the absence of a pommel cap in these earlier examples. A small amount of movement in the bolster.

Blade length 12 inches, 16 inches overall.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
