A good untouched example of a Second World War period Indian Army MK II ordnance kukri.
This example carries the correct date and maker markings of "Pioneer Calcutta 1943".
This example produced without a grip ring, a modification introduced in 1942 in order to speed up production, so likely one of the last MKII produced before the switch to the MK III in late 1943.
Wooden grip with some small chips and some minor loss, but very firm with no movement at all. The steel pommel cap held in place with two protruding rivets, indicative of mid war manufacture, and retaining some original camo paint. The blade with signs of service sharpening.
Housed in its correct MK II brown leather scabbard with makers marking, and date of 1944.
A used and carried example which would improve with some gentle cleaning and TLC.
