A very fine WW1 period private purchase kukri, of officers quality.
This example is based on the British Indian Army MK II, and resembles it closely.
The dark hardwood grips over the full width tang, with central grip ring, ring decoration, and two rivets, and the pommel with steel butt cap. The grip 4.5 inched in length.
The 13.5 inch blade with twin spine fullers, and cresent armoury marking above the kaudi on the left hand side. Generally bright, with some areas of light rust and old staining.
It is housed in a wooden scabbard which has been carefully wrapped in khaki canvas, no doubt to prevent reflection/muffle noise.
A scarce opportunity, such high quality privately made examples are seldom encountered.
