A Pair of Brass "Brighton Bun" Campaign Candlesticks.

A rather ingenious space saving design, originally from the mid 17thC, and popularized during the Napoleonic wars. They acquired their nickname from a small round, cake which they somewhat resembled. The two parts unscrew, to reveal the sconces, which can then be fixed in the central well to create a pair of candlesticks. I feature a page from an Army and Navy Catalogue, where they were still being advertised into the 20thC.

These late 19thC examples are of good colour and patina, and not "polished to death". No major dings or dents.
