A scarce souvenir brooch made from duralumin salvaged from Zeppelin L21 (SL11) which was the first German Zeppelin brought down during WW1, by Lieutenant Leefe Robinson, who was awarded the VC for this action.

The brooch is modeled on the RFC eagle badge, and is inscribed "L.21". These were produced by, and sold on behalf of the British Red Cross. The Eagle brooches seem to be the most difficult variation to find.

At the time, it was falsely reported that the downed airship was L21, but it was infact SL11.

Further information on the numbering mix up, and the cirumstances surrounding this fascinating area of WW1 aviation history can be found at the Imperial War Museum Website, HERE.
