British 1892 Pattern Household Cavalry Trooper’s Sword

British 1892 Pattern Household Cavalry Trooper’s Sword

Code: 11634

SOLD

A very fine Wilkinson produced 1892 Pattern Household Cavalry Trooper's Sword.

Markings to either ricasso, including WSC for the Wilkinson Sword Company, a date of September 1952, and marked for the "NCO's Mess".

Given the date it seems highly likely that this sword was produced by Wilkinson for use at Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation. I suspect it was then placed on display in the NCO's Mess, thus ensuring it remained in good condition.

Retaining a good 95% plus of the original plating to hilt and blade and scabbard.

The sword retains it's original liner, sword knot, and buff piece.

The guard featuring the Tudor crown over a stylised "HC" for Household Cavalry. smooth backpiece, and domed pommel. The Shagreen and and silver wire wrapped grip is complete and in good condition, showing only light wear.

The single fullered blade measured 34.5 inches.

Housed in the correct Household Cavalry scabbard, with single ring and loop, also bearing the circular WSC makers marking.

Overall a truly excellent example, and one which would be very difficult to improve upon.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
