Private Purchase Horn Hilted Dia Chirra Kukri.
This high quality example with the distinctive twin fullered "dia chirra" blade, with the original owners initials of "N.R.C." engraved to one side, along with the date 1945.
These horn hilted kukri were produced in the Darjeeling area for sale to servicemen, and were often customised to individual specification, as we see here. Given the size, it is likely that this example was carried by Air Crew, or possibly for use in a tank.
10.75 inch blade, 15 inches overall. Some light edge nicks to the blade, and signs of service sharpening.
The black leather scabbard complete with original frog. The bottom scabbard mount has been drilled to accept a leg strap.
