Three Bar Hilted Indian Cavalry Troopers Sword

SOLD

Code: 10134

Good unit marked example, and probably the cleanest sword of its type I have pass through my hands.

From the days of the Raj, these sword were originally produced using old stocks of 1796 light cavalry blades and 1821 Light Cavalry hilts.

The blade of this example was made especially for this sword, and although I can find no obvious makers markings, this is likely a British made example.

Blade length a full 32 inches.

A very pleasing example, with wire bound hardwood grip showing no sign of ever being covered. The leather bound scabbard with brass mounts is a perfect fit for the sword and is in good sound condition.

Light rusting to the three bar hilt, and small patches on the blade. The blade retaining the majority of its mirror polish.

These swords are hard to find in good condition, and with a gentle clean this sword would be a fine addition to any Indian cavalry collection.

Strictly over 18's only.
