Snider Short Rifle New Zealand Issue

RESERVED

Code: 10617

A very nice and scarce example of a Two band Snider Short Rifle, bearing issue markings of the New Zealand Government.

This rifle has been hanging on a wall for some considerable time, and was absolutely filthy when I bought it. I have removed the worst of the dust, grime and cobwebs with a soft brush, any further cleaning is left to the new owner.

Aside from the above, it is completely untouched. The woodwork has several bumps, dings, dents and brusies, but no major faults. Clear roundel marking on the butt, brass butt plate intact.

The metal work retains a lot of original finish, with plenty of crisp stamps and markings.

The lock is dated 1861 and marked "Tower" with Crowned VR.

The action is crisp and the spring strong. Hold scurely on half and full cock.

It retains its original cleaning rod, sling swivels and bayonet bar.

All in all an excellent, untouched and complete example of a hard to come by rifle, with the added bonus of the New Zealand government markings.
