1861 Pattern Staff Sergeant's Sword East Lancashire Regiment

SOLD

Code: 10670

An extremely pleasing example of the 1861 pattern infantry sword for Staff Sergeant's.

This somewhat scarce pattern is manufactured by Mole and carries his maker mark to the back of the blades spine. Various other inspection markings can be found on either side of the blades ricasso. The hilt and top mount of the scabbard carry matching  regimental markings for the 4th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment.

The sword comes in very good overall condition, the brass 1854 pattern guard free from distortion. The shagreen grips bound with copper twistwire are in similarly good condition, free from any loss.

The slightly curved single fullered blade is also in fine condition, free from any major rust, pitting, or damage.

Blade length 32.5 inches.

Housed in its original black leather scabbard, which has had three period "banded" repairs to the leather, which is holding firm and solid. Regulation brass mounts, with corresponding unit markings to the top mount.

Strictly over 18's only.
