1821 Pattern Royal Artillery Officers Ceremonial Sword

SOLD

Code: 10895

A good entry level Royal Artillery Officers sword, dating to the First World War.

This example has been service sharpened for field use, and then plated in later life, for parade, so likely originally owned by a long serving officer. This piece was retailed by Hawkes of London, with faint remanants of this marking at the ricasso. Other blade etching shows the Royal Artillery feathered lighting bolts, the words "Royal Artillery" a field gun, and crowned George V cypher.

Three bar 1821 pattern hilt, with all its original shagreen grip and copper wire binding. Hilt is dirty and will require a gentle clean.

Blade length 34 inches, which would indicate a mounted officer, or perhaps Royal Horse Artillery. Signs of service sharpening, and some small edge nicks, but generally very good. No movement between blade and hilt.

No scabbard.

A good entry level collectors sword, or wall hanger with plenty of history.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
