A well used example of the /|\56 guard marked 2nd Pattern FS knife.
Heavily sharpened blade now measuring 6.5 inches. Signs of old rust/corrosion. Loss of nickel finish to the pommel, though no sign of it being taken apart. Stamped "V.J." on the flat of the grip between the knurling and crossguard, possibly the owners initials? All tight, no movement between blade and grip.
Scabbard has had the belt loop removed and a thin copper band has been fitted. Tabs present. Bottom mount appears to be stuck on. There is a small 7 digit (serial) number written on the back in pencil, but it is very faint.
An interesting personalised knife, which it may be possible to attribute. Will improve with some TLC.
