1796 Light Cavalry Troopers Sword

SOLD

Code: 11221

A good example of a 1796 Light cavalry troopers sword. This example maker marked on the spine "T. Craven."

Thomas Craven was a well regarded Birmingham maker, known to operate from 1797 to 1803. After this he went into partnership as "Cooper and Craven" so it is likely this is an early example.

Stirrup D guard with slot for a sword knot, shield shaped langets and large "ears". The leather covering now largely missing, exposing the wooden core beneath.

This example with a plain 33 inch single fullered curved fighting blade. Crowned inspection marking to one side.

Cleaned condition overall. No movement between blade and hilt. No scabbard.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
