19thC Indian Tulwar

SOLD

Code: 11281

An interesting 19thC Indian Tulwar.

This example has a steeply curved 25 inch double fullered blade, There seems to be uniform markings in the two right hand fullers, possibly a prayer or dedication?. Some old pitting and wear overall. The cutting edge has been finely sharpened, and exhibits a handful of contact marks/edge knicks from meeting another blade.

The steel hilt has twin langets, twin quillions, and no knuckle guard. The disk shaped pommel is decorated with a central starburst and circles. Some small movement between blade and hilt.

The sword is housed in its original wooden scabbard, now missing its original covering, but retaining the metal drag. Some minor loss to the top of the scabbard, but generally holding firm.

All in all a good quality sword, certainly not a tourist blade, and something which will improve with some TLC.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
