1827 Pattern Rifle Officers Sword With Pipe Back Blade

SOLD

Code: 11324

A very fine early Victorian 1827 Pattern Rifle Officers Sword with Pipe back blade.

This example regimentally etched to the 4th Light Infantry, and carrying the original owners initials "H.M." in panels to either side of the blade.

Regulation gothic 1827 pattern guard with strung bugle within a cartouche. Shagreen grip bound with copper twist wire binding.

Etched at the ricasso "Hunt&Collins 30 Haymarket London" circa 1840. Crisp etching to both sides of the blade, including crowned VR cyphers to both sides of the 32 inch blade.

Good bright condition overall, with only minor traces of staining. Blade tight in the hilt-no movement.

Housed in its original polished steel scabbard with twin hanging rings.

As a pattern, it would be very difficult to improve upon. A good and hard to find variation, with the avenue of research into the original owner.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
