Scarce 1895 Pattern VRI Infantry Officers Sword By Mole

SOLD

Code: 11555

A very good example, of a VRI 1895 hilted Infantry officers sword, by Mole of Birmingham, makers to the War and India Offices.

Bright polished 1895 pattern guard, pommel and chequered backpiece, the shagreen with twistwire grip in very good order.

The 32.5 inch 1892 pattern blade is etched blade, with makers details to the ricasso, the usual foliate etching, VRI crowned cypher, family crest, and bearing Moles serial number to the spine.

The family crest would appear to be a dolphin 'naiant', which is associated with the Freer famly of Warwickshire.

Housed in its original steel scabbard with nickel mouthpiece and twin handing rings.

The scarcer variation of this short lived pattern, with the possibility of researching the original owner.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
