1796 Pattern Infantry NCO's Sword

SOLD

Code: 11739

A good, untouched 1796 Pattern Infantry Sergeant's sword.

This example lacks the decoration of the more commonly encountered officers swords.

Plain, 31.5 inch single fullered blade which has been service sharpened and retains an edge. Lightly pitted and stained for its entire length, with rounding at the point. The blade is slightly buckled/bent, which isn't uncommon with this pattern of sword. It remains highly flexible, and could be (carefully!) corrected, if desired.

Brass spadroon style hilt with urn pommel, slender knucklebow and twin fixed shell guards. Original swollen wooden grip. Some movement between blade and grip, the blade needs a replacement washer.

All in all a very respectable sword, worthy of some TLC, and much harder to find than the Officers examples.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
